One of my all-time favorite movies is Braveheart. I think of the courage many men and women had to have to fight for freedom throughout history. At any point in time I question if I would have had that same courage to take a stand regardless of cost. As I watch the battles in Braveheart I am overwhelmed by the loss of life with one quick strike of the sword and I think, would I run in fear of having a sword thrust in me or would my quest for freedom overrun my fear?
Thank the Lord we are not in times where we have to take up a sword to defend our freedom with the risk of getting our heads lopped off. Regardless, we are never in a time where we can be ignorant to the fact that freedom always has been and always will be under attack. We do not have to garnish a sword but in the information age we do have to be vigilant to the war of ideas.
I hope everyone understands that there is a battle to win over how you think. Don’t believe me? Go turn on the television to any channel and watch it with an open mind and ask yourself this question, “What is this program trying to program me to do?”
At one time we were the most free country in the world, but we are no longer. We have not lost any military battles to loose this freedom. The only battle we have lost is our ability to think.
Like William Wallace in the clip below I pray this country realizes there is a battle going on and people pick up their sword. Only in today’s world the sword is information. Let’s fight for getting people to start thinking again to perserve the freedom that once was in this country. I leave you with this last thought, lying on your deathbed many years from now, what will you wish you would have done today to preserve freedom?

I used to say we are slowly losing our freedom. But over the past few years we can change the word “slowly” to “RAPIDLY”. The media is shaping our lives. We are programmed through the very music to which we listen, the television shows which we watch, the video games which are played, the literature which we read, the “friends” we allow in our lives and, yes, some of the very churches we attend.
The subconscious mind CANNOT take a joke. “He” who controls the input to the mind controls the masses. So often I overheard people saying they acted or responded in a “certain way”, said something “inappropriate” or even exhibited violence towards others – not knowing why. Little do they realize they are responding to what is being programmed through the media.
We need to continue taking a stand! And only through consciously changing the input to our minds will we be able to be prepared and have the strength to hold on to our freedom(s).
We have the best tools to combat the above issues. I believe that 2013 is going to be an extraordinary year for LIFE. It is only through knowledge that we can be prepared for the future.

its interesting that you say “our freedoms are dissolving.” I don’t think “freedom” is a word most people even consider anymore. I bet that word was used a lot more 200 years ago than it has been in the last 20 years.
200 years ago the average farmer was more educated in the workings of our country than most “scholars” today!
It would be neat to see how they were educated so that we could follow that model and learn more information that will make a difference for our families and our futures!

Even as a lady, I am proud to be associated with a “group of men” who are standing up, not sitting idly by watching our country’s values wash away. In today’s society, so many of the men are passive. They go home to work and back again each day, doing little else. And please understand, this is not a lady ripping on men, but a complete compliment to each of the men who have posted on this blog. Including my husband. I am so thankful to have married someone who is fulfilling his purpose. I am also thankful that I get to raise my kids around a group who is showing them what it really means to be a gentleman/lady, husband/wife, dad/mom. It takes courage to reject passivity and that is what all of you guys are doing!
Tessa, I feel the same way. Where else do you see men getting excited for the freedom of their families, and helping other families, and their country? I love seeing how “our Guys” do their manly hug and pass on the encouragement of their true words, knowing they are apart of something ginormous! I love it!

However, seeing the sacrifices you continue to make to serve others’ and help them do the same is what sets you apart from from leaders in any other industry. We are surely being programmed if we aren’t careful. I often hear moms talking about how their kid wants this item or that item for Christmas, but do they really want that item or have they just been programmed to want that item by commercials and advertising? I hope that we are training our children to think for themselves, using the correct information as their “sword”. Ephesians 6 says that God’s word is “the sword of the spirit”, just another way to arm ourselves and our children against the false ideas of this world. True freedom is in Christ.

This movie till this day still gets me charged up…
The whole point of this battle was the decision to fight for their very own freedom. With so many standing on that battle field not even sure of themselves, let alone being out numbered; it took only ONE man to take a stand!! To get them ‘thinking’ for what is right….Its called COURAGE.
The internal battle within each person out in today’s society… is one that people see their own freedom’s dying before them, yet, they have been so glazed over by what “reel freedom” truly is….
They don’t fight for it, or even worse, they mock it by systematically robbing our future generations by not educating themselves (i.e.picking up that weapon knowledge).
Thank you Steve & Jamie for taking a stand and setting the example of courage to fight for what is right!

Steve, you really pull on my heartstrings with this. I was completely oblivious to this until I decided to pull myself away from the television and decide to go on a path of self-directed learning. Along this path of learning, I met a man named George Guzzardo who recommended a book to me titled; “Foundations of God’s City: Christians in a Crumbling Culture”. Now I’ve had a few wake up calls in my life, but NEVER one like this! It was painful at first, because everything I had learned through my own life experiences up until that point, was completely the opposite of what I was reading. I knew it was true, yet, there was that human side of me resisting it because it was too uncomfortable to face. Thanks to some great mentorship along the way, by people such as George Guzzardo, Dan Hawkins and yourself, I was able to harness the anger I felt towards society for being so far removed from the truth & reality, and use that anger in a positive way to actually become a part of the solution.
I had a recent discussion with a close friend regarding professional sports and how money has become the “end all – be all”. We talked about how the fans of professional teams actually have the power within them to dictate change when thier favorite team’s ownership isn’t making the right decisions for the betterment of the TEAM. If all the fans united and decided, we’re not going to attend these games or buy your merchandise, collectively, they have the ability to force change. It’s amazing how passionate so many people get about their favorite sports teams, and many will draw the line in the sand when things aren’t right, yet, in their own lives and society, most will make the choice to do nothing! I’ve heard several times, “You can’t change what you’re willing to tolerate”. So many people have given up hope that change can occur in a society that is in rapid decline, when the truth is, we have the power to draw the line in the sand when things aren’t right and force change. As Ray Kroc once stated, “None of us is as good as all of us”.
You’re are 100% right! One sword raised will not change this country, but communities of people who decide to turn the right media on and get educated on why things are the way they are, and live in reality can force change to occur for the better. I appreciate MEN like you and the leaders on the TEAM and L.I.F.E. for leading the way through your example. You could easily make the choice to simply be “comfortable” now because you’ve served so many people and God has rewarded you in tenfold, yet you have decided to raise your sword even higher because this country’s “cause” is way bigger than your “comfort”………..
You’ve given many people the inspiration to stand together and be a modern day “William Wallace”!!!

Steve, this past weekend, our son happened to be playing in a basketball tournament at a high school in which you coached wrestling. On a wall inside the gym, there was a huge a board that listed all the past conference champions and state qualifiers. I couldn’t help but notice, that the years you were coaching the wrestling program, that’s where most of the champions on that list happened to come from. Coincidence? I doubt it! As I read the posts by so many of the leaders in this blog, and personally witness the growing number of people that you’re helping become successful in life, it dawned on me just how universal “leadership” truly is. I’ve personally talked to some of your successful wrestlers, and every one of them have told me that it was your vision, your encouragement and your leadership that made them and the program a success, just as the people you’re coaching in life have said the same. (me included) As I stared at that board in the gym, I couldn’t help but think, why don’t they put the coaches names up there too?? But, just like in this awesome TEAM/LIFE community, the coaches results are recognized through the number of lives they’ve impacted and helped to become successful. I’ve never once heard you talk about any of your amazing accomplishments, but through the lives of the people you’ve touched through the years and continue to inspire today, the wall I can see is endless in size and is filled with a list of champions! Thanks for standing tall and empowering so many to be the champions they were destined to be!

It’s tough to say what is favorite movie is depending on the time and the season, but Braveheart has stood the test of time as always staying in my top 5.
I hadn’t seen Braveheart until very recently. Had no idea what I was missing! I think it would make every guy’s top five list for sure.
