It Takes A Community

12 09 2012

Think your life is tough? My family and I watched this video in amazement as I explained the violent reality of nature not realizing how the video would end. For this young animal, much like most of us in our lives, things go from bad to worse. Just as it seems it is all over the power of a true community comes through.

There is so many parallels to this video and Life that I wish I had the hours to tell you about all of them. I will tell everyone to keep their Resolve! There will be all kinds of obstacles trying to rip you apart. For the water buffalo, the only positive he has is he knows who his enemies are. For us, unfortunately sometimes we may not know who our enemies are.

It may feel like you are alone at times but just like in the video, your true community will come through in the end. Stay strong and enjoy the journey! Steve Leurquin

This was such a great video!!! Like the others, I loved that flip. πŸ™‚ Like you said steve, there is so much that can be pulled from this video, I’m sure I’ll be watching it more than once! Power of community, courage, persistence, never quitting, standing up for what is right even if its not easy, …a great video. Thanks for sharing!

WOW, that was a perfect example of “Staying Tough” even when the deck is stacked against you! 6 Lions and a Croc, but that calf hung in there long enough for the cavalry to arrive.
Steve Sager couldn’t of put it better about it only taking one with enough courage to take a stand. Truly Blessed to be following such a Courageous group of people… Thanks to ALL Leading the Charge!!

Staying Tough?! I think that was a New Kids On The Block hit from a few years back? Either way they knew what they were talking about when it came to these Water Buffalo!

Hey Steve,

Great find, and yes there are many parallels that could be drawn. Taylor and I sat glued to our seats. The power of community is a beautiful thing. I liked the body throw that bull put on that lion. That got everyone’s confidence up, even the calf’s. The power of leadership.

The throw was nice! Reminds me of the comparison of basketball and wrestling. When it comes down to it, if you get in trouble and need to get yourself out of a bind, you can choose to throw a basketball or you can choose to throw in a headlock. Good thing this Water Buffalo chose wisely! πŸ™‚

Watch you taling about Willis that was very insightful! I heard a song once that goes something like this, “You say it best, when you say nothing at all.”

This video reminded me of a scene from one of my favorite “anytime” movies (the kind of movie you can watch at any time), The Count of Monte Cristo: β€œLife is a storm my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man, is what you do when that storm comes. You must look in to that storm, and shout as you did in Rome: β€˜Do your worst!’ For I will do mine. – Then the fates will know you as we know you. As Albert Mondego, theο»Ώ Man.”
How often do we feel that the whole world is against us? How often do we feel like no one can possibly know what is happening to us? I’m happy to say that since I joined the TEAM, those are never questions. There is always a shoulder to lean on. There is always and ear to bend. And possibly most importantly, there are always hands to help you up………or save your bacon from pride of lions πŸ™‚

Stevs: What a increadable video. The parallels you recalled are so true. Unfortunately Most people would not have the persistance this buffalo herd had. I could not help thinking about them as a protective community looking out for one of their own. Thanks for the blog when one of us is in need Life/Team members can be counted on I’m sure. Blessings –Bill–

The strength in numbers concept, is really applicable here.

The irony of all this?? Is when they all were “standing there”, not too sure how to do it; it only took the courage of one water buffalo to charge and not back down; to allow others to step up!!

Just like with people, it usually takes one person to Take A Stand, for the rest to succeed. Steve, you are that one person…… in the lives of so many, that you took a stand in your Leadership. Thus, allowing others to bring out the courage within ourselves and into our communities….

PS: not to be mean πŸ™‚ but I loved it when that one lion was flipped in the air!!
