Can I Quote You On That?

21 09 2011

Top 30 Leadership Gurus and founders of LIFE Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady are forming the largest leadership community of interdependent learners ever. They are best selling authors of Launching A Leadership Revolution and Woodward is about ready to launch a new instant best-seller Resolved: 13 Resolutions For LIFE.

Through their years of writing several books each and speaking numerous times throughout the world, each of these men provided millions of readers and listeners quotable material to use as a path for motivation of an improved LIFE.  Here are some of my favorite Woodward/Brady quotes that have helped me grow:

“The best way to read a person’s mind is through his or her actions.”           – Woodward

“Most of us are playing it safe in life, even though none of us is getting out alive.”  – Woodward

Maybe we should be as wary of public officials as we are of public toilets.”  – Brady

“Winners play hurt.”  – Brady

What I appreciate about Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady is their humility in knowing that they can learn from anyone.  Every time I read or listen to these gentlemen teach they are quick to give credit by quoting other leadership authors/speakers and great minds throughout history. Here are some of my favorite quotes learned in my leadership journey through the Team leadership system:

“The only way for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.”                       – Edmund Burke

“When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened” -Billy Grahm

“Do not live as though you have a thousand years.” -Marcus Aurelius

How about you?  What are some quotes that have helped motivate you to step forward in your leadership walk?  Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady, George Guzzardo, any of the founders of LIFE, quotes from history, or any of the great authors you have read, feel free to post some great ones that have helped you.

Enjoy, Steve

Steve-

I am reading your blog from afar and I must admit – IT IS QUITE THE INSPIRATION!!!! Thank you for all that you do. I am so greatful for the leaders that take their time to give to all of us. You are one that helps us keep the space between our ears in check.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“A person who is fundamentally honest doesn’t need a code of ethics. The Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount are all the ethical code anybody needs.” – Harry S. Truman

“As a leader, the first person I need to lead is me. The first person that I should try to change is me. My standards of excellence should be higher for myself than those I set for others. To remain a credible leader, I must always work first, hardest, and longest on changing myself. This is neither easy nor natural, but it is essential.” – Orrin Woodward

God Bless,

Angie,
John Wooden has to be one of the best coaches of all time (even if its basketball :)). When a man stands on principle he is a good man, but when he teaches those principles to the next generation, hes is a great man.
